Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our team on a long-term maintenance contract at a large recycling facility in London.
This is a varied role with a strong focus on mechanical maintenance, installation, and welding across conveyors and a wide range of machinery and plant equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance on conveyors, screens, shredders, crushers, and other recycling plant equipment
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs on fixed and mobile plant machinery
  • Inspecting and replacing bearings, rollers, drums, valves, gates, and other components
  • Maintaining and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including rams and solenoids
  • Carrying out plant inspections and reporting defects via online systems
  • Undertaking general welding and fabrication tasks (MIG, Stick, and ideally TIG)
  • Reading and interpreting project plans and coordinating with site teams for efficient installations
  • Completing risk assessments, method statements, and adhering to health and safety protocols
  • Conserving resources and working to budget while ensuring client satisfaction
  • Responding to emergency breakdowns and carrying out essential repairs under pressure
