ABOUT US

SIMEC Mining Iron Ore has operations in South Australia and New South Wales. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla consists of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. We also have a portfolio of non-ferrous mining assets located in South Australia, including the Ardrossan Dolomite Mine – which supplies dolomite flux to Whyalla Steelworks – as well as a collection of copper-gold exploration projects.

Skills and experience required:

  • Trade qualified – Fitter/Machinist with Cert 3 Engineering Mechanical Trade or equivalent
  • Forklift and telehandler tickets
  • Elevated work platform license, working at heights, dogging and rigging are highly regarded
  • Driver’s license
  • Hands-on experience using SAP is beneficial
  • Knowledge and experience in hydraulic systems, desirable
  • A proven history of fault finding, troubleshooting and repairs on various plant
  • Demonstrated heavy industry experience in fixed plant maintenance is highly regarded
  • A strong safety focused attitud
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a reliable, enthusiastic and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join the Pellet Plant Maintenance Team. You will have support and autonomy in executing the breakdown and preventative maintenance on site. This role offers stability, security, long-term career opportunities and genuine progression with a great roster, that will give you plenty of time to enjoy the Whyalla lifestyle.
This is a 12-hour day shift role – Tuesday to Thursday one week and Tuesday to Friday following week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining assets across the Pellet Plant, focused on planned work, unplanned breakdown repair or service work, or plant limiting work, troubleshooting and problem-solving equipment failures and improving plant reliability
  • Undertake diagnostics and preventative inspections in accordance with maintenance plans and complete follow up action
  • Undertake confined space and working at heights activities
  • Working autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team, understanding the requirement to maintain assets in a safe and reliable condition
  • Identifying defects and providing feedback on asset performance and health
