Job Summary
The Heavy Equipment Service Technician is responsible for the servicing, washing, fuelling and inspection of Heavy, Light, and Aerial construction equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Heavy equipment trade certification preferred. Apprentices welcome.
  • Minimum 1-year experience servicing Heavy Equipment.
  • Valid G-Class Driver’s license with clean abstract (within the last 3 months).
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all equipment is rental ready by cleaning, checking and refueling.
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose electrical/hydraulic construction equipment, minor (bolt-on) repairs, and regular maintenance.
  • Conduct maintenance including checking/gapping spark plugs, replacing air filters, greasing/lubricating bearings/joints, replacing/tensioning belts, etc.
  • Operate and test equipment and where possible, do so under actual operating conditions.
  • Follow the appropriate checklists and procedures including referring to owners’ manuals and schematics when servicing equipment.
  • Determine the serviceability or need for equipment repairs.
  • Possesses excellent product knowledge to effectively transfer information to customers. Includes: explaining features and benefits, safe operating techniques and promoting related accessories or products.
  • Maintain inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management system.
  • Complete all work orders and related paperwork with respect to the repair and maintenance of equipment in order to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management system.
  • Support store staff including loading/unloading equipment and merchandising.
  • Adhere to and promote all Company Safety Policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
