Description

This is an 8 hour, 260 day Maintenance II - Journeylevel Carpenter position with benefits. Anticipated start date is as soon as possible.
Hours for this position are from 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
Rate of pay listed does not include swing shift stipend.
JOB TITLE: Journey-Level Maintenance Technician
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Maintenance II - MACP
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Maintenance and Grounds

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform a variety of maintenance and general repair tasks to create and maintain a safe and orderly working environment and to present a positive image on behalf of the district for students, staff, parents and the general public using district facilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

  • Knowledge of multiple maintenance trades, including electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and locksmithing.
  • Strong public relations skills; skill and ability to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic math problems; ability to read, interpret and follow written and verbal instructions including service orders, emails, labels on chemicals and supplies, etc.
  • Physical ability to perform manual work associated with maintenance duties including lifting 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds to lifting and move materials and equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge of water piping, venting, sewer, and drain systems.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturer’s maintenance guides, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and work safely.
  • Ability to operate basic computer systems including Microsoft programs, Kronos, Sonitrol, etc. to meet perform general tasks and meet daily administrative needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, District staff, parents, and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently and establish daily priorities with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and to be flexible in meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to remain flexible in responding to changing needs.
  • Ability to perform physical work in a variety of conditions.

EDUCATION:

  • High school graduation or its equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years of experience in multiple trades to include carpentry, lighting, plumbing, and general building repairs and installation.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Vocational Certificate.
  • K-12 facilities maintenance experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Washington Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs in multiple trades, including electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and locksmithing.
  • Perform repairs to and remodeling of building facilities.
  • Construct and fabricate materials as directed on work orders to include, but not limited to projects as follows: interior and exterior wall repairs and modifications, bulletin boards, signage, art frames, furniture repair, facility fixture installations, etc.
  • Perform duties related to carpentry, painting, and plastering, as assigned.
  • Clear plugged sewer, storm, and roof drains. Install and maintain plumbing equipment including, but not limited to: dishwashers, garbage disposals, drinking fountains, toilets, urinals, and sinks.
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance tasks including HVAC Filter changes, fire alarm testing, and bleacher inspections and repairs.
  • Function in a general labor capacity on tasks including, but not limited to: maintenance, grounds care, building security, transferring and warehousing of equipment and supplies, custodial duties, and other general labor projects.
  • Operate equipment including, but not limited to: aerial lift and ladder, sand blaster, drill press, table saw, band saw, router, sander, skill saw, jig saw, joiner, planer, and other related trade tools.
  • Operate automotive equipment for transporting materials and supplies.
  • Prioritize and organize tasks for the purpose of meeting deadlines, accessibility of information, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Respond to emergencies as directed.
  • Comply with District Policies and training requirements.
  • Maintain acceptable job attendance.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor(s) or the maintenance lead for the purpose of maintaining an organized and efficient work environment.
