Description

Irving Equipment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance & Inventory Team Leader to lead the day-to-day operations of our maintenance facility. This role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with company standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of technicians, apprentices, and support staff involved in the repair and maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Oversee inventory management of parts, tools, and consumables:
  • Requisition materials and supplies as needed.
  • Monitor stock levels and usage trends to ensure availability of critical components.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular audits.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training or arrange for training of workers to ensure skill development and adherence to best practices.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and performance improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Prepare production, maintenance, and other operational reports as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of the shop environment.
  • Participate in budgeting and cost control for maintenance operations.
  • May also supervise and coordinate the activities of apprentices, helpers, and labourers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Red Seal Certification or equivalent trade qualification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with inventory control systems and maintenance management software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
