Maintenance Lead – Care Services
Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Multi-Site Role
Location: Based across our care home sites – Birmingham Central & Sandwell
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Reporting to: Compliance Lead

What You’ll Do
You’ll lead and deliver a structured, accountable maintenance service across our care locations. This includes balancing daily responsiveness, planned work, and compliance across sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the Maintenance Inventory, ensuring critical items are tracked
  • Log daily tasks on our digital software
  • Respond to crisis issues immediately, escalate per protocol, and manage emergency contractor callouts when needed
  • Complete all routine compliance checks (e.g. fire alarms, Legionella, PAT testing, nurse call systems and similar) to regulatory standards
  • Manage and track long-term project progress (e.g. refurbishments, multi-day works) on our digital software
  • Follow strict purchasing and receipt processes and file in line with company processes
  • Ensure all work consistently meets internal quality and safety standards, ready for audit by Compliance or Operations

Day-to-Day Maintenance

  • Routine inspections and preventative maintenance across internal and external premises
  • Reactive maintenance and repairs using in-house skills or approved contractors
  • Keeping maintenance areas clean, safe, and stocked

Collaboration

  • Work respectfully alongside care and nursing staff, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Communicate upcoming tasks and changes to the Operations team regularly
  • Participate in meetings to receive and share updates- present maintenance KPIs and pipeline updates

What You’ll Need

Essential

  • Enhanced DBS check required
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in general building or property maintenance
  • Experience in at least one trade (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, decorating, electrics)
  • Strong grasp of Health & Safety protocols and risk assessments
  • Confident using mobile task systems or digital platforms

Desirable

  • NVQ or City & Guilds in a relevant trade
  • Asbestos Awareness, Legionella Control, or Fire Safety certification
  • PAT Testing qualification
  • Previous experience in care, school, or healthcare settings
  • Familiarity with CQC compliance or regulated environments
