Located in Princeton, BC, SBC Firemaster is a leading retail Firewood manufacturer in North America. The site is located within walking distance of downtown Princeton.

The surrounding mountains and valleys are a beautiful, natural setting for year-round outdoor activities like river tubing, kayaking, swimming, hunting, and fishing. Princeton is centrally located to major cities in the Okanagan, Thompson & Lower Mainland.

SUMMARY:

  • SBC Firemaster is inviting applications for a Maintenance Lead for our growing team. This new position will be involved in all areas of the facility on numerous types of equipment such as conveyor systems, saws, wheel-loaders, strappers, palletizers and PLC controls. This position will also have office work for a large portion of their daily activities (approximately 50%) in addition to being on the plant floor assisting with production line maintenance needs. The administrative portion of this role will be responsible for much of the organization and planning of the maintenance department.
  • Candidates for this position should have a good body of knowledge of heavy industrial equipment, and come with a working background of industrial environments and their safety standards. Candidates should be flexible, willing to learn, have the ability to multi-task and are willing and able to work unsupervised.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Red Seal Millwright or equivalent experience
  • Heavy industrial experience is an asset
  • Computer literacy is required, including proficient knowledge and experience with the MS Office Suite or Google platform
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate using various forms (print, speech)
  • Goal driven and results oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in dynamic teams
  • Ability to assist, motivate and lead teams while adhering to the desired outcomes as detailed by the executive team

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance department as a whole and will report to the Operations Manager daily on progress of plans, activities and objectives.
  • Creates maintenance schedules for the maintenance team, with the assistance of the Operations Manager, to ensure site needs are met
  • Responsible for the sourcing of parts as needed by the production department and maintenance department
  • Plans and oversees the execution of projects in accordance with site plans derived by the Executive Team and the Operations Manager
  • Together with the Manager of People and Efficiency, create tracking systems for maintenance needs such as preventative maintenance and routine services
  • Ensure all documentation is completed and filed according to site practices including work orders, supplies and maintenance record keeping
  • Maintains organization of tools, equipment and parts used by the maintenance team
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise and communicate with others regarding any issues and potential solutions
