MACHINIST

Pertinent Notes: Full time, Direct Hire opportunity with a very well established, extremely safe and reputable company.
Location: Harrow, ON
Shift: Steady Days - 6:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m
Compensation: $50-60.00 / hour ($36.36/hour + $0.55/hour midnight premium + incentive (incentive can range from $15-25/hour +/-) + full benefits, pension, bonuses, tuition reimbursements, tool/boot allowances, etc.
Signing Bonus: up to $6,000 (paid after 90 days - but has a clawback if resign in two (2) year period)
Job Description:

Under direct supervision, will lay-out work, set up, and operate machine tools to machine parts to required specifications. Performs any disassembly, fitting, measuring, and making of replacement or new parts, and assembly work required for plant machinery and equipment. Daily duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy. Adheres to safe work practices in accordance with OSHA and Company safety policies & procedures such as LOTO and other safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy
  • Receives job assignments from the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor
  • Interprets drawings and sketches. Plans and determines working procedures
  • Performs any necessary lay-out work and makes sketches of parts and assemblies as required
  • Determines dimensions and tolerances from a drawing or by measuring parts and mating parts. Makes any necessary calculations to develop dimensions, make reference to and interprets correctly any necessary handbook to determine related data regarding calculations, fits, standards, machinability ratings, proper cutting tools, proper seeds and feeds, surface finishes, plating conditions, etc.
  • Sets up the required machines with the proper tools, holding fixtures, feeds and speeds cutting fluids, etc., and operates the machine to produce the finished part to the required specifications and dimensions
  • Selects and procures the proper material stock for the job. Uses material in a manner to minimize crop loss and uses crops where possible and practical
  • Prepares various reports and documents details of work performed based on company requirements. Makes recommendations to improve design, reduce cost thru design change, material choice, reduction of excessively high tolerances, use of standard commercially available parts, etc. Checks drawings or sketches for errors in dimensions, design, and specifications
  • Dismantles, repairs, and re-assembles machinery and equipment and components thereof, and adjusts assemblies consisting of gears, rolling, and sliding mechanisms, etc., where very close tolerances are involved, and a great deal of precision is required to ensure proper function and to minimize wear
  • Works in Machine Shop or in the Plant as required
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Trade or technical school diploma (Including Blueprint Reading, Machining Equipment, Part Design and Mechanical Training)
  • 5 years experience in an industrial environment performing related work
  • Must be detail orientated and posses the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Working Knowledge of Fadal based CNC machining center
  • Hydraulic experience (maintaining and rebuilding hydraulic systems on ID madrels)
  • Mig/Tig/Stick welding experience will be necessary
  • Ability to properly rig and secure loads going in and out of the mills and lathes using safe practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain machining centers and lathes and perform simple repairs.
  • Use of AutoCad to create and modify or update prints as required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive attitude towards your work and maintain positive working relationship
  • Ability to work at elevated heights
