Summary
The Maintenance Manager at Arrow Finishing leads a high-performing team to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all equipment, facilities, and systems. This role is responsible for strategic planning, team development, and operational execution, including preventive maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. By leveraging CMMS tools, enforcing safety standards, and fostering a culture of accountability and growth, the Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in optimizing budgets, performance, reducing downtime, and supporting long-term business goals.

Key Responsibilities | TASKS YOU DO TO ACHIEVE THE ACCOUNTABILTIES

People:

  • Lead, develop, direct, coach, and evaluate the performance for team
  • Write and deliver performance reviews and have periodic discussions on performance with direct reports ensuring accuracy, honesty, and timeliness of delivery
  • Effectively identify and address performance management issues as they arise. Give recognition in a timely manner for good performance
  • Lead hiring, termination, and succession planning for team
  • Train employees and develop their skills to meet company needs

o Develop and maintain a skill chart for each employee
o Set developmental goals for each employee and perform regular progress updates

o Crosstrain employees to eliminate gaps in skill sets and coverage

  • Encourage employees by recognizing significant accomplishments and jobs well done
  • Enforce company policies and procedures consistently
  • Hold regular team meetings to keep all employees informed of company policies, large projects, upcoming events, and other key information
  • Conduct consistent one-on-one meetings with employees to ensure a thorough understanding of workload, employee concerns and project completion
  • Allocate/schedule all labor and activities of the team by setting automatic schedules for reoccurring maintenance, and formally assigning work requests
  • Hold employees accountable by auditing completed work
  • Approve time off requests and timecards weekly

Safety & Compliance:

  • Implement initiatives to promote a safety culture to drive toward zero incidents
  • Maintain program documentation for regulation compliance
  • Hazardous waste management
  • Develop and provide KPIs related to budget effectiveness and performance of the maintenance department
  • Investigate, identify, and implement corrective actions for sources of OSHA recordable accidents, incidents, and near miss

General:

  • Approve or deny department expenditures
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering and Maintenance to:

o Set weekly agendas
o Prioritize tasks and set goals for the department
o Develop training documents
o Develop operating procedures for repairs and maintenance
o Build out and maintain CMMS tools

o Report KPIs from CMMS and discuss their influence

  • Negotiate outside services (e.g. lawn service, lawn sprinklers, landscaping, snow plowing, blacktop / concrete repairs and replacement, dock doors and dock plates, electrical repairs and upgrades, cleaners, painters, building repairs, building sprinkler systems, coordinate all 6 month and yearly inspections, fire extinguishers, forklifts, trucks, elevator, compactors, air compressors, etc.)
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process failures, incomplete procedures and training deficiencies. Use a data driven problem solving approach to make fact-based decisions
  • Ensure the Maintenance Technicians perform their duties in accordance with applicable SOP and Quality Standards including:

o Perform preventive maintenance of machinery and related equipment
o Perform general repair of machinery and related electric/electronic, fluid power, mechanical systems
o Perform systematic trouble-shooting of machine problems
o Perform basic fabrication of machine parts, and accurately document work
o Install special functional and structural parts in devices
o Accurately prepare Maintenance Work Orders and Purchase Orders

Facilities:

  • Assist in developing capital expenditure plans and department budgets
  • Schedule and coordinate outside contractors for routine maintenance and/or construction projects
  • Assist with technical or large projects when additional labor or expertise is needed
  • Oversee facility infrastructure equipment and manage the asset life cycle, creating repair and replacement strategy

Equipment:

  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance with stakeholders such as department managers and operators
  • Manage the daily operations of the Maintenance Department to repair and maintain mechanical equipment, production equipment and facility equipment

Systems:

  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan
  • Develop and maintain a critical asset list with monthly reports indicating status
  • Lead and maintain Lockout Tagout and Confined space training and documentation
  • Manage and maintain all necessary maintenance records
  • Approve invoices relative to the maintenance department in a timely manner
  • Perform all other assignments as required

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience and/or training OR 5 years of related, progressive experience in a maintenance environment
  • Proficient using MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to communicate work instructions verbally to maintenance personnel
  • Ability to communicate with other leaders effectively and professionally

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to use hand tools requiring using fine dexterity and precision
  • Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, and bending for 8 hours as the position requires
  • Ability to withstand occasional odors

Work Environment
This position location is on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and could be exposed to chemical or electrical shock risk. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and noise levels that are typically moderate.
