Purpose: The Maintenance Manager is a performance-driven leader responsible for ensuring reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our highly automated organic dairy processing facility. This role champions a Performance Ownership System structured approach that builds accountability, proactive engagement, and results-driven maintenance culture. The Maintenance Manager leads a skilled technical team, fostering collaboration between production, quality, and engineering to deliver world-class equipment performance and uptime. Success in this role is measured through clear, transparent key performance indicators (KPIs) that align maintenance strategy with plant-wide performance goals. Essential Responsibilities: * Lead with Ownership: Build a culture of accountability where every team member takes ownership of equipment performance, safety, and reliability outcomes. * Drive Proactive Maintenance: Develop and sustain advanced preventive and predictive maintenance programs that minimize unplanned downtime and extend asset life. * Performance Management: Establish and communicate measurable KPIs that drive reliability, efficiency, and cost control; ensure visibility of results through CMMS and visual performance boards. * Develop Skilled Teams: Mentor maintenance personnel through structured skills development plans, certification paths, and cross-training to strengthen team depth and versatility. * Reliability Leadership: Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective actions, ensuring long-term problem elimination and standardization of best practices. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with production, quality, and engineering to integrate reliability practices such as 5S, rapid changeover, and equipment centerlining. * Safety & Compliance: Maintain a zero-compromise approach to safety; ensure all activities align with organic, SQF, FDA, USDA, and local standards. * Asset & Vendor Management: Oversee spare-parts inventory, vendor performance, and contractor activities to ensure cost efficiency and reliability. * Financial Stewardship: Manage the maintenance budget with precision, balancing reliability goals with fiscal responsibility. * Project & Automation Support: Support capital projects, automation upgrades, and equipment commissioning to enhance long-term operational capability. * . Other Required Responsibilities: * May require significant travel for training, construction, or equipment acceptance tests. * Act as a liaison with local utilities and government agencies. * Manage vendors with AOD’s best interests in mind. * Capital Projects – assist with plant capital project. Competencies Required for Success: Strong analytical skills – troubleshooting Organization & Planning Customer Focus Coaching, Training & Development Energy Collaboration Knowledge and Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. * 5+ years of maintenance management experience in food or beverage manufacturing, ideally in dairy or organic processing environments. * Strong working knowledge of automated production systems, PLCs, robotics, and process controls. * Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving ability. * Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and utility systems. * Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). * Familiarity with organic certification requirements and food safety standards. * Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills. * Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls as needed. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work for extended periods in an office environment as well as spending their entire day on the plant floor.  Walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and working in adverse environments will all be a requirement.  Lifting up to 50-lbs at times. Able to travel via automobile or airline.
