QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Minimum associate degree in industrial technology or mechanical engineering, preferred
EXPERIENCE: 5 years Maintenance in Manufacturing experience preferred. 5 years supervisory or management experience preferred. Working within a union environment is a plus.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Sustains plant operational readiness for production demand and identifies capacity constraints from either poor performing equipment or lack of output from current equipment / facilities. Oversees multiple facilities. Manages the mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair of plant equipment, buildings and ground. Oversees engineering design and construction of new facilities, or alterations or modifications of existing facilities. Develops, plans, schedules and directs staff of skilled and unskilled trades’ employees. Ensures that all utility systems are fully operational and inspected in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules. Monitors cost estimates for building renovations, supplies and inspects completed work for conformance to specifications, internal and external compliance.

Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Aware and preparing maintenance team and operations of new technology that is applicable to reducing labor or increasing output whether through additional pieces or higher yield.
  • Determine if subcontracting is required to complete rebuild of production equipment including facility modifications. All work will be done in accordance with Wellman, IOSHA, state and county regulations and standards.
  • Writes Statement of Work, SOW, for new projects; equipment and facilities for bidding process that include Safety, Quality, Performance, Workmanship and Warrantee expectations. When possible acquire 3 bids.
  • Complete capital equipment request (as required) for authorization to proceed with the work.
  • Maintain CAP Ex Budget and plans, including record keeping and organizational processes for quick reference. Determine and maintain controls of the Maintenance budget and annual spending.
  • Maintain all equipment and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions within the facility and on the grounds to include any additional locations.
  • Determine and write work instructions concerning the Maintenance department and ensure training is completed.
  • Maintain excellent PM program where all PMs are completed. Adjust PM schedule for efficiency to remove or reduce equipment that has reduced demand during the PM cycle and increase PM for higher load equipment. (Running 2 shifts versus 3 shifts and visa versa.)
  • Project engineer relating to manufacturing equipment and building and grounds.
  • Lead and/or assist in continuous improvement projects.
  • Monitor quality levels of materials, manpower, machinery, and methods to ensure the Company meets both internal and external customer expectations.
  • Identify and implement corrective action and/or modifications to materials, methods, manpower and machinery to ensure the Company meets both internal and external customer expectations.
  • Organize and schedule materials, manpower, and machinery to ensure products are manufactured on spec, on cost and on time in accordance with predetermined schedule.
  • Promote all company safety programs, policies and procedures including unsafe and hazardous conditions and safety rules, including a proficient LOTO program and confined space program.
  • Develop and maintain an aggressive housekeeping program to include a routine cleaning schedule throughout the entire facility. Develop procedures within the department to promote maximum efficiency, productivity, and safe work environment.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures in accordance with the current labor agreement including plant rules, quality, safety, workmanship, attendance, and departmental work instructions.
  • Promote and maintain positive employee relations through effective communications, interactions, leadership, teamwork, coaching, guidance, and regular and constructive performance feedback.
  • Train and introduce employees to changes and standards, annual safety programs, work methods and departmental expectations.
  • Accurately track training, including required testing of employees through TPC Training program.
  • Accurately complete all administrative documents associated with vacation scheduling, attendance verification, payroll and disciplinary actions or discussions in a timely manner and in accordance with the current labor agreement and company policies and procedures.
  • Research, develop and introduce new and innovative approaches to work more efficiently to ensure increase in productivity levels through Gain sharing program.
  • Supervise employees with fair and consistent treatment and within the guidelines of the labor agreement and the Company’s “Statement of Business Purpose” or Mission.”
