About the Role:  The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the operation of all plant systems and equipment. Including but not limited to balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts bearings, forklifts, wheel loaders tractors and trailers. This position must respond to all system failures by taking appropriate corrective action by completing or assigning the repairs needed to ensure that systems are operational and are functioning safely and efficiently.  Benefits: * Paid Parental Leave * Health insurance * Dental insurance * Vision insurance * HSA/ FSA * Paid time off * Employee Assistance Program * 401k matching * Tuition Reimbursement Responsibilities: * Performs repairs in accordance with Company Safety and OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements * Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PM); diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components including but not limited to balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro-magnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front-end loaders, tractors/trailers and building equipment * Establishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and advises leadership if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within the Standard Repair Times * Inspects the quality of third-party repairs and or rebuilds * Recommends measures to improve production, equipment performance and product quality * Safely operates tools and equipment needed during the repair and servicing of equipment * Diagnose defects and repair a variety of equipment and vehicles * Estimate time and materials required to perform major repairs * Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns * Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures * Perform other job-related duties as assigned Minimum Job Qualifications: * High School diploma or GED * Three (3) or more years of mechanical experience * Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights and weekends to support operations and the needs of the facility Preferred Job Qualifications: * Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment * Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company equipment * Knowledge of OSHA and other state and federal regulations * Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers * Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operation, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service * Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills * Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects * Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing * Knowledge of proper lifting techniques Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:  Normal work environment is a recycling plant, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.
