Description
Overview The Machine Shop Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of machine shop equipment, including CNC machines, lathes, mills, grinders, and related mechanical systems. This role ensures that all shop equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company and industry standards. Salary: $25- $30/hr DOE Responsibilities Inspect, maintain, and repair machine shop equipment to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in CNC and manual machines. Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to the company’s maintenance schedule. Replace worn or damaged machine components such as bearings, gears, seals, belts, and motors. Maintain accurate maintenance records and update service logs. Collaborate with machinists, operators, and supervisors to coordinate repair schedules and minimize production disruptions. Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals. Ensure all repairs meet safety and operational standards. Follow all company safety protocols and wear required PPE. Skills / Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance or mechanical repair preferred. 3+ years of experience in machine maintenance or mechanical repair in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine alignment. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Familiarity with CNC equipment, lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and service manuals. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Basic welding and fabrication skills a plus. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Work in confined spaces or elevated areas as needed.
