DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation. Job Summary Under general supervision and according to policies and procedures, repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Using hand tools, repairs or replaces defective parts and installs special functional and structural parts in devices. May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May initiate purchase order for parts and machines. 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must possess a certificate in Pneumatics and Hydraulics or equivalent, or combination of equivalent experience; or possess a related Associate's Degree. 3. Must have one to two years experience in industrial repair work. 4. Motor control experience, pneumatic and DDC controls experience or machine control computer programming helpful.

The mechanic repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, and conveyor systems, using hand tools and precision instruments according to specifications. This involves locating trouble causes, dismantling devices to remove defective parts, inspecting components, and adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments.
