Description The Maintenance Mechanics maintains the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities, electrical, and mechanical systems and plumbing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics and written technical documents of general machineries to locate area of trouble and complete repairs accurately. Repairs and adjusts doors, windows, closures, panic devices and locks. Patches holes, installs escutcheons, repairs ceiling and floor tile as needed to maintain building appearance. Makes minor masonry and wood repairs. Installs pictures, coat hooks, other wall hung furnishings, and equipment as requested. Responsible for operating and maintaining specific equipment, conducting surveys and inventories, performing preventive maintenance activities, responding to customer complaints, and repairing equipment. May perform daily chemical tests on water systems and adjust chemical mixtures and feed rates. Is responsible for conducting surveys and inventories of buildings and equipment. Enters data into computer systems and databases. Maintains records and files; interprets applicable regulations and filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures. Practices all applicable safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment as required. Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identifies and records need or problem and determines best approach to resolve situation following departmental guidelines. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma and two years of experience in building maintenance, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and general carpentry. Working knowledge of computer or mobile applications. Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record. Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist, climb a ladder, and walk for distances up to one mile. NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
