Job Summary  Under limited supervision, is responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, installation and repair of mobile and stationary equipment. Required to perform work with low voltage systems up to 60VDC. Duties and Responsibilities  * Follow all safety policies, maintain a clean work area, and perform tasks such as greasing, cleaning, inspecting equipment, and supporting hoist/shaft work. * Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mining, lubrication, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment; read and use technical schematics. * Accurately complete documentation (inspections, timecards, work orders) and effectively use computers and CMMS systems. * Install and repair components on mobile and stationary equipment, perform welding/cutting and miscellaneous trades work, and assist in training employees. * Perform all other duties as assigned  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  Required * High school diploma or GED * Strong mechanical background with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, diesel engines, low‑voltage electrical systems, and welding/cutting. * Skilled in reading fabrication drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and diagnosing/repairing mechanical sub‑assemblies. * Knowledgeable in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, crushers/screeners/conveyors, power transmission/alignment, and computer tools such as CAT ET, Windows, SMAG, and GHH. Preferred * Technical certificate or equivalent experience in heavy‑equipment repair. Physical Requirements/Work Environment * Work in underground and surface mine environments with variable temperatures and humidity; expect outdoor weather exposure, noise, and dust. * Work areas are generally dry, but visibility may be limited—many locations rely on a cap lamp and/or equipment lighting. * Navigate uneven, slick, and changing ground conditions (including floor heave and polished surfaces from mobile equipment traffic). * Work safely around moving machinery and energized power cables, maintaining constant awareness of roof and rib conditions. * Meet physical demands including prolonged standing, long-distance walking, and extended seated equipment operation with whole-body vibration; work at heights using a full-body harness; shovel/clean spillage and lift up to 5 feet; operate multiple hand/foot controls; lift up to 65 lbs; and climb ladders of 30 ft or more At Morton Salt, we work best when we work as a team, when we treat one another with dignity and respect, and value the unique contributions of others.
