Description BASIC FUNCTION: Performs mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and electrical repairs, installation and maintenance on plant equipment, utilities, and facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs preventive maintenance on plant equipment. Measures, cuts, threads, and installs piping, fitting and valves. Dismantles and reassembles machines and fits replacement parts such as bearings and spindles. Installs switches and controls. Diagnosis and troubleshoots electrical and instrumentation problems. Operates lathe and Bridgeport mill. Moves and installs production equipment, prepares foundations, levels, and aligns machines. Performs concrete and masonry work, rough carpentry and plumbing. Performs mechanical and minor electrical repairs on machinery and equipment. Keeps production records. OTHER DUTIES: Repairs HVAC equipment. Lays out and installs wiring circuits and electrical distribution centers. Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required. CONTACTS: Internal: Moderate (16-30%) Contacts are non-controversial in nature and handled in accordance with standard practice and procedure. . External: Occasional (6-15%) Contacts are routine and require obtaining or giving information or service. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education: One year commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school. Experience: One year related work experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Manual Dexterity: Work requires skilled, accurate, rapid, and some closely coordinated manual or other physical actions. Physical Effort: Work requires a considerable variety of fairly steady active physical exertion. Working Conditions: More frequent exposure to disagreeable features. Hazards: Injury may require a doctor's care. Time lost for part of a day may be to receive medical treatment.
