Maintenance Mechanic Prince of Wales Island, AK | Seasonal, Temporary POSITION DETAILS Location: Prince of Wales Island, AK (Remote Camp) Schedule: 12 hours/day, 7 days/week -- 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off Employment Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Non-Exempt Pay Range: $20.00 -- $24.00/hour Benefits: Room and board provided. Transportation to and from site covered by client. ABOUT THE POSITION This is a seasonal, temporary position based at a remote exploration camp on Prince of Wales Island, AK. The camp is accessible only by floatplane, helicopter, or boat -- there are no roads in or out. Employees work a 12-hour day shift, 7 days a week, on a 3-weeks-on/3-weeks-off rotation. Room and board are provided at no cost to the employee. Transportation to and from the site is covered by the client. This is a dry camp: alcohol and firearms are not permitted on site. Prescription medications are permitted with appropriate documentation. POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Mechanic performs a broad range of general labor and skilled maintenance duties at a remote exploration camp, working both indoors and outdoors. This role supports the day-to-day operational needs of the camp site, including facility maintenance, equipment fueling, and logistics support. The ideal candidate has a background in the mining or construction industry and is comfortable working independently in a remote setting. RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and repair * Perform carpentry, plumbing, painting, finishing, and general facility repairs * Perform minor electrical repairs and maintenance * Load and unload shipments arriving via floatplane or barge; move materials to designated work areas, including fuel handling * Measure and record fuel storage tank levels and report to logistics * Assist heavy equipment operators by providing guidance during equipment movement * Fuel machines and equipment such as compressors, pumps, and vehicles * Support site services personnel and assist maintenance staff with various exploration site activities * Perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or equivalent * Valid driver’s license * One year of prior experience in the mining or construction industry * Familiarity with electrical and mechanical maintenance * Experience in carpentry, painting, and general facility maintenance * Ability to create and maintain a safe working environment * Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment * Responsible, organized, self-motivated, and team-oriented PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Prior camp or remote environment experience ABOUT US POWTEC was founded by two tribes, the Craig Tribal Association and the Organized Village of Kasaan, on the shore of Southeast Alaska’s rugged Prince of Wales Island.
