Description Maintenance Mechanic – Keep Our Operation Running Smoothly Are you a hands-on problem-solver with a passion for keeping equipment running at its best? At Vision Plastics, we’re searching for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in ensuring machines and systems operate safely and efficiently. SUMMARY Perform routine maintenance and repair to keep machines and equipment in proper and safe working order. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Perform routine maintenance as assigned by supervisor. 2. Make emergency repairs as needed. 3. Assists supervisor in routine inspection of plant machinery and equipment. 4. Diagnose problems and find the best solution for each problem. 5. Manufacture or repair auxiliary equipment for particular processes of production. 6. Assist or advise process technicians on machine functions and set up to achieve production goals. 7. Promote and teach other staff the safe and correct ways to use machinery and equipment. 8. Assist with maintaining a spare parts inventory for the shop. 9. Utilize maintenance software to track maintenance requests and scheduled preventive maintenance tasks SECONDARY FUNCTIONS 1. Performs other duties as assigned. 2. Keep area neat and clean. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must be able to read, understand and verbally communicate work instructions. 2. Must be able to do basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). 1. Must have some experience with computers and Microsoft Office programs. 2. Must have strong working knowledge of all hand tools and mechanical ability. 3. Must have skills in some of the following areas: construction, hydraulic, pneumatic, welding, shop equipment, and equipment troubleshooting/diagnosis. 4. Must have strong knowledge of electrical systems including single phase, 3 phase and low voltage control systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams is strongly preferred. Proficiency with using a multimeter for testing and diagnosis is required. Must be able to understand and diagnose issues with electronic controls including relays, contactors, switches, proximity sensors etc. 5. Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. occasionally and to safely use tools to lift/push/pull heavier loads when needed. 6. Must be able to use and become certified on all types of equipment found in the plant. 7. Must effectively communicate with other departments, coworkers, management and vendors. 8. Requires a minimum of three years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS 1.
