An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, committed and customer service focused Maintenance Officer to join our team at Townsend Park.
Nestled in the serene coastal suburb of Hove, Townsend Park is more than just a retirement village – it’s a vibrant, welcoming community where residents feel truly at home.
Your work will support our inviting communal areas and well-kept homes – all just a short stroll from Brighton Beach and the lively café culture of Jetty Road. Whether it’s keeping the barbecue spaces in top shape for social gatherings or simply helping residents feel safe and supported in their homes, your contribution will make a real difference every day.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our properties by undertaking reactive and preventative maintenance activities and providing excellent customer service to our residents. We are seeking a proactive individual with strong communication skills, strong computer skills and a knack for problem-solving.
You will support our close-knit team on a part-time basis. No weekend work!

Shifts

  • Wednesday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Thursday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include;

  • Coordinating maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections for residential properties
  • Assisting with general upkeep and handyperson tasks including minor repairs and installations. Such tasks may include fixing clotheslines, paving, surface patching, removing blinds and awnings during resident move-outs, pressure cleaning, checking and reporting on air conditioning units, replacing fixtures and fittings
  • Implementing and adhering to EHS procedures, ensuring safety of all residents, visitors and contractors
  • Communicating effectively with residents to address maintenance requests promptly and efficiently
  • Collaborating with external contractors to ensure timely completion of work orders
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and update databases accordingly
  • Assisting with various Adhoc duties where required, as directed by the Village Manager

About You

The successful applicant will have demonstrated competence as a maintenance assistant or handyperson or experience in a similar role, as well as:

  • Be organised and able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understanding of machinery use and tools required for the job
  • Ability to identify and conduct reactive and preventative general maintenance in homes
  • A high level of understanding and commitment to EH&S and safety standards
  • Take pride in your workmanship
  • An exceptional respectful nature
  • Currently hold an Australian Drivers Licence
  • A current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Computer literate e.g. basic knowledge with using Excel, Word, Outlook, Apps
  • The ability to take initiative and be pro-active
  • The ability to work individually and in a team

Relevant internal training and inductions will be provided to the successful candidate on-site.
