SIMEC Mining Iron Ore has operations in South Australia and New South Wales. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla consists of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. We also have a portfolio of non-ferrous mining assets located in South Australia, including the Ardrossan Dolomite Mine – which supplies dolomite flux to Whyalla Steelworks – as well as a collection of copper-gold exploration projects.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

An opportunity has arisen for suitably qualified and enthusiastic Electrical or Mechanical Operator Maintainer to join our Export Operations at the Port. The position will report to the Export Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Rotating roster:
2 Days / 2 Nights, 5 off – 12 hour shifts
2 Days / 3 Nights, 4 off – 12 hour shifts
3 Days / 2 Nights, 5 off – 12 hour shifts

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure business targets are met through the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a diverse range of equipment at our Port facilities. To be successful in this role, you will have a wide range of trade maintenance duties. Your responsibilities will cover:

  • Operate fixed plant equipment
  • Conduct preventative, breakdown, and scheduled maintenance
  • Execute disassembly, installation, and upgrades of plant and equipment
  • Proficiently diagnose and fault-find
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime
  • Prioritize safety and maintain high-quality standards

You will be an exceptional team member with a flexible can-do attitude and sound work ethic. This is a hands-on job and you will have experience working on plant and equipment.
