Maintenance Technician
Located in Belén, Heredia, a vacancy has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Technician within the Maintenance Department. As Maintenance Technician you will be able to improve the productivity of the Cable Manufacturing plant. This position will be working a variety of shift patterns, including continuous and rotative shift pattern, ensuring the effective implementation of the maintenance programs and to carry out the different maintenance activities to ensure a smoothly and reliable operation of the equipment. As part of the maintenance team, you must be comfortable working on their own when required, using their own initiative with a strong desire to succeed in a sometimes-challenging environment and you will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, and collaborating with different areas to promote continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities

The maintenance technician will be responsible of:

  • To maintain or improve, all plant and auxiliary machinery or infrastructure using various maintenance disciplines.
  • Repair and fault find on all production and auxiliary equipment.
  • To troubleshoot in the following areas consistently and reliably: Mechanics, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electrical, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and Electronics
  • Contribute toward machine efficiency and development programs using existing maintenance programs and Continuous Improvement methodologies including 5 why analysis.
  • Complete preventative or predictive maintenance activities and identify or implement action plans needed to stop reoccurring faults.
  • Completion of Risk assessments and equipment isolation procedures.
  • Performs checking, calibration, operation and adjustments on all production and auxiliary equipment to prevent any potential hazardous and avoid energy waste.
  • Collaborate or facilitate contractors to do some special equipment (such as forklift, production machinery, air conditioner, air compressor, etc.) scheduled maintenance and urgent repairs and ensures all maintenance work accomplished well.
  • Maintains inventory control of spare parts by records any spare parts consumption on Maintenance Log and reports to Maintenance Supervisor for re-order in case any critical parts shortage comes so as to prevent unnecessary and avoidable downtime.
  • Ensures, by daily checking, that the electrical, water, compressed air, and LPG supply of facility runs into control, and without any potential hazards.
  • Ensures, by the accomplish of the Proactive process, the conditions and behavior for the safety operation of the production plant.
  • According to established 5S standard, keeps the clean and tidy condition in maintenance room, spare parts warehouse and other assigned area such as Electrical Substations, air compressor room, etc.
  • Maintenance Technician carries out any task assigned by the Maintenance Team Leader, Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
-
- A minimum of 2 of years’ experience working as a maintenance technician in a dynamic, busy and high-volume manufacturing environment. A willingness to work flexibly and commitment to work overtime is required.
- Electromechanics/Electronic biased formation but will have experience in both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Knowledge or experience in SAP or any other Maintenance system is a plus.
- Experience in fault finding and repairs in Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, servicing and repair of gearboxes and other large mechanical equipment.
- Workshop skills including fabrication and use of workshop equipment.
- A good understanding of function, maintaining and fault finding of PLC, HMI and Drivers from different brands (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Hitachi, Omrom, Yaskawa, Powerflex, Parker, Siemens, Simoneg, Danfoss, Epower).
- Experience in Pneumatic, Mechanic and Hydraulic Systems
- Experience with Servo control drives and motors
- Ability to read and understand Electrical and Mechanical schematics to aid in equipment troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Industrial metrology and selection of measurement equipment (for temperature, pressure, flowmeters, electricity consumption, etc.).
- Knowledge of Industrial communication networks (Ethernet, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RS485, Hart, Probibus, Profinet, DeviceNet, DH+, serial 232, 48DH485)
- Knowledge of electrical systems (medium and low voltage, grounding, power quality protection systems, etc.)
- Knowledge in maintenance of utilities equipment (Chillers, Air compressors, Electric Substations and power distribution systems, Fire protection equipment, etc.)
