The Role and Department You will be part of a multi-disciplined Direct Labour team, within the Estates and Facilities Directorate. You will undertake all types of internal and external painting activities, including preparation works, to an agreed standard, complying with industry standards, statutory requirements, and relevant codes of practice, in a professional, efficient and customer-focused manner. You will work across the University Estate, within domestic, industrial and educational buildings. You will be required to use electronic devices for receipt and completion of work instructions. The Estates and Facilities Directorate provides essential services to Durham University and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses. Good standard of education, including English Language and Mathematics and a post-16 qualification or equivalent experience. 2. Recognised and registered CITB as a Maintenance Painter, or other relevant, approved training. 3. Professional craftsperson with knowledge and expertise in one or more areas of buildings or estates services provision. 4. Experience of working within a team to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and good customer care. 5. Experience of contributing to the delivery of painting services in residential and educational buildings. 6. Experience of working in occupied properties. 7. Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues 8. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines. 9. Experience of completing maintenance documentation and related records. Skills/Abilities/Knowledge 10. Excellent spoken and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally. 11. Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps including, but not limited to, internet, email and Microsoft 365 applications. 12. Industry or professional knowledge/recognition relevant to the role supported by relevant courses or certification. 13. Committed to continuing professional development. 14.
