Position Summary The Maintenance Parts Buyer is responsible for the procurement and inventory management of maintenance-related parts, tools, and supplies. This position ensures the timely availability of materials required to support equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and maintain efficient plant operations. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Essential Responsibilities • Source, negotiate, and procure maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) parts and supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness while meeting quality and lead-time requirements. • Establish and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and vendors to support reliable supply chains and favorable terms. • Review and process purchase requisitions; prepare and issue purchase orders; monitor order status and ensure on-time delivery. • Collaborate with maintenance and operations personnel to forecast part requirements and maintain appropriate inventory levels. • Manage inventory to avoid shortages while minimizing excess or obsolete stock. • Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier performance, and pricing agreements. • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations. • Coordinate return, replacement, and warranty processes for defective or incorrect parts. • Support cost-reduction initiatives, audits, reporting, and budget tracking activities related to maintenance purchasing. • Partner with maintenance planners, supervisors, and technicians to verify part specifications and requirements. • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management (manufacturing or maintenance environment preferred). • Knowledge of MRO supplies and industrial equipment parts strongly preferred. • Demonstrated negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. • Proficiency in ERP systems, purchasing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities. Physical Requirements • Ability to sit, stand, and walk within warehouse and plant environments. • Ability to occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. • Ability to drive a motor vehicle as needed.
