MAINTENANCE PERSON

At Black Swan Care Group, we are currently looking for a maintenance person to work in one of our residential care facilities, Taverham Grove on a full time, 40 hour, permanent contract, £12.60 per hour.
Located on the outskirts of Norwich, Taverham Grove is a residential care facility designed to support individuals living with dementia. It is a 30 bed care home and is our newest purchase within Black Swan Care Group.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  1. To take joint responsibility with the Manager to ensure that the property is maintained to a high standard and to ensure that the property is a safe environment for the residents and staff and conforms to the requirements as laid down under the Health and Safety at Work legislation.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that the property remains in a safe structural condition and that all utilities are fully operational.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools used are well maintained and in good working order. Ensure all tools and equipment used are stored in a safe place for the protection and safety of residents and staff and ensure that the storage of all cleaning and dangerous materials conform to the Home’s COSHH policy.
  • Complete the various maintenance, fire and health and safety checks as advised by the Manager.
  • Ensure that you maintain the Environmental Cleaning Schedule and checklist found in the Infection Control and Cleaning File.
  • Ensure that you maintain the Cleaning Schedule and checklist found in the Food Hygiene File.
  • Prepare and undertake a short and long term assessment of maintenance requirements and undertake same in consultation with the Manager and advise the Manager of any malfunction of the heating, lighting or emergency systems and ensure the security of the premises. Report to the Manager on a monthly basis regarding long term maintenance requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in staff training where applicable.
  • Contribute towards the development of activities and day care programmes for residents in which they can join in and which will enhance their quality of life. Consult residents regarding choice of decoration pertaining to their own bedrooms. Aid the care staff when they are assisting those residents who wish to take an active part in the decoration of their bedrooms or general maintenance of the building.
  • Ensure that any vehicles used to transport residents to day care, social activities etc, are in a safe condition and conform to legal requirements. Assist with the driving of said vehicles when necessary (Where vehicle supplied).
  • Read, understand and adhere to all company policies.
