Job Summary
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience working as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic on Hydraulic Shovels, Electric Shovels, and Large Surface Drills. The role focuses on planning and managing maintenance for these machines, with an emphasis on overhauls and shovel/drill outages, ensuring reliability and operational readiness. Familiarity with SAP for maintenance planning is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate detailed maintenance plans for Hydraulic Shovels, Electric Shovels, and Large Surface Drills, emphasizing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Plan and oversee overhauls and outages for shovels and drills, optimizing resources, timelines, and required components to minimize downtime.
  • Use SAP to create and refine maintenance schedules aligned with operational goals.
  • Apply hands-on expertise from working with P&H, CAT, Komatsu, and Hitachi shovel and drill systems to ensure effective maintenance management.
  • Collaborate with operations, supervisors, and technicians to facilitate seamless execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor equipment performance, analyze data, and identify trends to implement proactive maintenance solutions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage scheduled shutdowns and reduce operational disruptions.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly maintenance schedules, ensuring all necessary resources—labor, tools, and parts—are in place.
  • Maintain accurate equipment history records, including work order management and component tracking.
  • Support Reliability Engineers and Supervisors with initiatives to improve shovel and drill performance and reliability.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations in all maintenance activities.
  • Assist in refining Bills of Materials (BOMs) for routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Work closely with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure efficient sourcing and availability of materials and parts.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Certification as a Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance planning, with a proven focus on Hydraulic Shovels, Electric Shovels, and Large Surface Drills, including overhauls and outages.
  • Extensive hands-on experience working directly on Hydraulic Shovels, Electric Shovels, and Drills is required.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with SAP for maintenance planning is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic mechanical systems for P&H, CAT, Komatsu, and Hitachi shovels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across diverse teams.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • This is a full-time, direct-hire position; we are not seeking contractors or consultants.
  • Ability to pass an 8-panel drug test (including marijuana).
  • Ability to pass an alcohol breath test.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
