This role exercises independent judgment in establishing maintenance priorities, allocating labor and resources, and improving asset reliability to support plant safety, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The Maintenance Planner serves as the central authority for maintenance workflow management and reliability planning. Primary Responsibilities: * Develops and owns the site-wide maintenance planning and scheduling process. * Determines maintenance work prioritization based on safety risk, production impact, and asset criticality. * Independently reviews, approves, defers, or escalates work requests. * Establishes and maintains PM and PdM strategies aligned with reliability best practices. * Analyzes equipment failure trends and recommends corrective reliability improvements. * Evaluates downtime impact and advises plant leadership on risk mitigation strategies. * Influences capital planning through asset lifecycle analysis and replacement forecasting. * Leads annual outage/shutdown planning and resource allocation strategy. * Develops job standards, labor estimates, and planning accuracy targets. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY: Supports the Maintenance & Plant Leadership Teams with data accuracy, job planning, inventory coordination, and continuous improvement of maintenance processes. * Plans and schedules all daily and weekend maintenance activities, including shutdown windows. * Develops, updates, and maintains Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) schedules. * Creates and maintains critical spare parts lists for all existing and new assets added to the facility. * Serves as primary point of contact for OEMs and contractors regarding maintenance repair planning, technical guidance, and scheduling. * Reviews incoming work orders daily; ensures proper scope, parts, labor estimates, and safety requirements are included before scheduling. * Builds detailed job plans including tools, materials, parts lists, permits, and estimated labor hours. * Coordinates with Production, Maintenance Supervisors, and Engineering to schedule all work for our internal customers. * Maintains accurate equipment records and job histories. * Ensures job kitting is completed prior to scheduled work. * Tracks backlog, overdue work orders, and PM compliance. * Assists with annual shutdown/outage planning. * Analyzes failure trends and maintenance metrics. * Supports continuous improvement and reliability initiatives. * Helps train Team Members on CMMS usage and training matrix updates. * Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports. * Maintains a clean, safe work environment and follows all safety procedures. * Performs other duties as assigned. AUTHORITY & DECISION-MAKING: * Authority to prioritize and sequence all maintenance work. * Authority to approve or reject non-emergency work requests. * Authority to recommend equipment downtime scheduling. * Authority to recommend contractor utilization. * Exercises independent judgment in interpreting maintenance data and operational needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: * 3–5+ years of maintenance planning, reliability, or supervisory experience. * Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. * Experience developing PM strategies and reliability programs. * CMMS expertise required. * Technical certification or associate degree preferred. Skills & Competencies: * Advanced analytical skills. * Strategic thinking. * Decision-making under limited supervision. * Financial impact awareness. * Strong cross-functional communication. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. Frequently required to climb, balance, twist, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently must lift/move 25 to 75 pounds, occasionally lifts 75 to 100 pounds. Must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 12 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break and other applicable breaks during the shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
