WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

DPS is seeking plumbers with skills across maintenance, construction or industrial plumbing to maintain one of Australia’s most iconic buildings.
We offer a flexible and varied work environment, with generous leave and flexibility allowances, and operate a cyclic maintenance calendar. We work on over 1000km of pipework, conduct the statutory maintenance for a variety of critical plant and participate in minor construction projects.
If you are looking for a team that values you as much as your skills, apply for this role. Please be sure to read the selection criteria thoroughly and answer the four questions in your application.

Job Specific Requirements:

  • Australian Citizenship
  • ACT Plumbing licence (Water Supply Plumber, Sanitary, Advanced Sanitary, General Gasfitter) or the ability to obtain one at short notice
  • Ability to work at height
  • Trade qualifications relevant to the duties with related experience
  • Work flexible working arrangements (up to 30% including 9 weekend days) to meet operational requirements including Parliamentary sitting, shifts, on-call rosters, out of hours works, weekends and duties as required, in the current Departmental Enterprise Agreement 2024 and any future agreements
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.
Responsibilities

We proudly provide innovative, unified, and client-focused services to the Australian Parliament and parliamentarians. We are a values driven department, placing our values at the heart of everything we do; from our service offerings and decision making to our interactions with stakeholders and each other.
Our people are employed in a broad and unique range of professional, customer service and trade-based roles, all joined by a shared purpose: to make an enduring contribution to Australia’s parliamentary democracy. We have an inclusive workplace that reflects the diversity of the community we serve. While we come from all walks of life, we share a commitment to care for and protect our iconic workplace.
Every year, almost one million people visit Australian Parliament House to experience the parliamentary process, the building’s architecture, nationally significant art collections, events, tours, and food and dining experiences – all made possible by our people, who are active participants in an environment where no two days are the same.
