Description

OnScent is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance and Repair Technician to join our Operations team at our Norwood NJ fragrance manufacturing center. In this hands-on role, you will help ensure the smooth operation of the facility and equipment by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting facility improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, can take initiative, and is comfortable completing tasks with minimal supervision when needed. You should have a strong sense of ownership over your work, be capable of prioritizing responsibilities, and take pride in getting the job done right and on time.
As OnScent continues to grow, this technician will also assist in shaping and building out the maintenance program and department-bringing ideas, structure, and best practices to support a more robust and scalable operation.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school certification is a plus.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (fragrance, chemical, food, or pharmaceutical industries preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively resolve maintenance issues.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs, instrumentation, and automated systems.
  • Strong communication skills, Spanish helpful, but not necessary.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments; forklift experience is a plus.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment with strong fragrance odors present.
  • Must be willing to be on-call for emergency repairs and flexible with shift scheduling when required.
Responsibilities

PreventiveCorrective Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment such as mixers, pumps, compressors, and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues independently or with limited guidance.
  • Take initiative in identifying issues and addressing them before they cause downtime.

EquipmentFacility Upkeep

  • Maintain and service batching systems, compounding equipment, filling lines, and lab support tools.
  • Support calibration and routine performance testing of facility systems.
  • Conduct general facility repairs such as lighting, door adjustments, minor plumbing, and painting.

ComplianceSafety

  • Follow all OSHA, GMP, and OnScent safety protocols when carrying out maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed using the company’s CMMS.

Continuous ImprovementGrowth Support

  • Recommend and implement improvements to equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Participate in building and organizing a scalable maintenance program as the company expands.
  • Assist with planning and executing facility upgrades, installations, and equipment improvement projects.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with production, quality, and EHS teams to maintain a safe and efficient facility.
  • Provide maintenance support during audits, inspections, and emergency situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
