Responsibilities
  • Maintain the physical plant with repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform skilled carpentry work in the major renovation and construction of building, structures; constructs, alters, maintains, and repairs buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, screens, furniture and cabinets.
  • Schedules and performs specialized preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery to ensure that necessary inspection, adjustment, and replacement of parts.
  • Responsible for supervising inmates working in the maintenance department.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts.
  • Maintain an extensive array of tools following all policies and procedures relating to tool control and purchasing of tools, equipment and parts, including accurate tool logs.
  • Responsible for maintenance related purchases and statement reconciliation.
    Requirements / Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
    Other: Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
