This role requires strong leadership, advanced technical skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced industrial environment. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE at all times. Lead with safety Operate all tools and machinery in accordance with safety and operational standards. Leadership & Team Development Build, train, and lead a highly skilled maintenance team. Foster a positive, collaborative, and safety-driven work culture. Lead by example and maintain a positive attitude at all times. Effectively restructure and optimize maintenance department processes as needed. Develop and track maintenance KPIs to measure team performance and equipment reliability. Technical Expertise Proactively maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Perform and oversee both minor and major repairs on facility equipment. Ensure all machinery is operating safely and efficiently through preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Diagnose root causes and implement long-term corrective solutions. Communication & Collaboration Establish effective working relationships across all organizational levels. Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing. Collaborate closely with operations to support production needs and minimize downtime. Bilingual (English/Spanish) for team and cross-department communication preferred. Planning, Organization & Accountability Execute maintenance schedules and ensure completion within established deadlines. Maintain detailed records of equipment repairs, maintenance activities, and part usage. Prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with strong time-management skills. Demonstrate high analytical aptitude and attention to detail in all work performed. Continuous Improvement Promote and implement proactive maintenance strategies. Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and increased equipment reliability. Show strong initiative in addressing maintenance needs before they escalate. Requirements Skills & Qualifications Proven experience supervising a maintenance team in an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy-equipment setting. Highly skilled in diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems maintenance. Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. High level of self-initiative and proactive approaches to work. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. Physical Requirements Ability to work in an industrial environment, including exposure to noise, heat, and heavy machinery. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and performing physically demanding tasks. Willingness to work hands-on alongside maintenance and operations staff. Working Conditions Environment: Recycling yard/industrial facility with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Hazards: Involves operating heavy machinery and handling large metal materials; safety protocols must be strictly followed. Physical Demands: Frequent lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
