Description

Maintenance Supervisor- This position is an exciting opportunity to join the Maintenance team at one of our automotive assembly operations. You will manage the daily activities of a skilled trades team to ensure production and maintenance needs are met, business objectives are achieved, and safe work practices are maintained. The role requires balancing safety, quality, cost, responsiveness, and environmental considerations while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will organize work schedules, assign activities, and ensure maintenance personnel have the training and resources needed to perform effectively. You will work cross-functionally with other departments to coordinate schedules, address equipment issues, and support production targets.

Compensation and Work Schedule

  • Term: Contract assignment
  • Start date: September 8, 2025
  • Duration: 50 weeks, 2 days (opportunity for extension possible)
  • Est. Reg. Hrs./Wk.: 40; must be willing to work any shift
  • Est. OT Hrs./Wk.: 8; must be willing to work daily, weekend and holiday overtime as required
  • Compensation: $33-$39/hour
  • Work location/environment: Oshawa, ON; automotive assembly facility (onsite)

Skills and Experience

  • Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • Trained in skilled trades area or equivalent technical training
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong leadership skills, including safety enforcement, conflict resolution, and team motivation
  • Technical knowledge in troubleshooting, reading schematics and manuals, and working with automation systems (robots, PLC logic)
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including resource prioritization and root cause analysis (5-Why methodology)
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Electricians and Industrial Maintenance Mechanics in plant production operations
  • Administer company policies, labour relations and enforce strict adherence to safety procedures and regulations
  • Manage manpower to meet throughput and cost objectives
  • Coordinate maintenance, tooling, and engineering schedules in your area of responsibility
  • Support preventative maintenance completion and process improvements using CMMS tools
  • Apply Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles to maintenance operations to drive efficiency and reliability
  • Lead activities during equipment breakdowns, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Plan and coordinate downtime work for maintenance projects and repairs
  • Develop maintenance team skills through on-the-job training, assignments, and classroom learning
  • Monitor work quality, provide feedback, and hold team members accountable for performance standards
