JOB SUMMARY:

To provide leadership and support to maintenance team and external contractors while ensuring compliance with company, safety and cGMP requirements.

EDUCATION:

  • A university degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent); or College diploma combined with equivalent experience in skilled trades (Millwright or Industrial Electrician License) with prior supervision experience will also be considered

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a cGMP production environment (pharmaceutical, food & beverage or similar).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Prior experience working in a supervisory capacity (preferred: maintenance, production or equivalent).
  • Strong organization and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Willingness and capability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Proficient with MS Office software programs.
  • Preferred: Previous experience with SAP software PM module.
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required by CPL; reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies CPL of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
  • Works in collaboration with Production Operations, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain and Commercial Operations teams to manage day-to-day maintenance related activities, including active participation in production planning and working proactively to be successful on labour utilization and schedule adherence.
  • Works in collaboration with Production Operations, Product Development and Engineering teams to support packaging line trials for new products.
  • Liaises with the Maintenance team, Production team and Change Over Champions, setting priorities and responsibilities for the shift.
  • Monitors performance/downtime of lines and action items as needed and provides daily updates to management on the progress of setups, PMs and breakdowns.
  • Provides support for packaging and manufacturing equipment set up (assembly, align and monitor) and breakdown (disassembly and inspection).
  • Verifies maintenance documentation for the shift.
  • Creates and maintains setup sheets (standards) for packaging equipment
  • Schedules and pians PM / corrective action related activities ensuring required materials and labor are available and ready on time. Works with the maintenance team to review the proposed plan each month and assigns work to maintenance staff. Communicates to all affected groups and planners to ensure full alignment of the business with the schedule to achieve minimal downtime.
  • Maintains accurate equipment history and assembles regular maintenance reports for department management, while ensuring efficient and reliable operations and compliance to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains documented visibility of aspects of PM/Calibration planning system including but not limited to overall performance of the team to deliver the plan, prevention of backlogs, completion rates, excursions, exceptions, opportunities for
  • improvement and other performance metrics as deemed appropriate to effectively measure and improve the system.
  • Generates maintenance and parts related Purchase Orders (POS) and expedites procurement for maintenance.
  • Serve as the SAP subject matter expert for PM program and responds to queries for internal clients as well as regulatory agencies.
  • Works with Maintenance Planner to establish and maintain maintenance store/inventory system and critical spare parts inventory for all production I plant equipment and utilities.
  • Contacts external contractors, machine shops, fabricators and others during breakdowns or when required. Supervises outside contractors, as required, while at CPL premises.
  • Identifies and repairs deficiencies in mechanical equipment and systems throughout the plant. Identifies and sources equipment parts as required.
  • Contributes to achieving lean goals and participates in continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and efficiency throughout the production facility.
  • Participates in new capital engineering efforts to ensure seamless integration into the PM system.
  • Plans support to cover vacations, absences, etc. in the Maintenance Team.
  • Assesses skills and manages the performance of Maintenance Team members to help develop competencies for the betterment of the team members and the organization.
