Description Title: Maintenance Supervisor Location: Elgin, IL Internal/External posting: External AI Applicant Screening used: No Salary Range: $79,000 - $86,000 yearly DOE POSITION SCOPE: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance for the machinery in our company’s facility. The Maintenance Manager plans, develops, implements new and revised preventative maintenance scheduling while assisting with production. This person will help by suggesting new ideas on how to improve processes. REPORTS TO: Plant Director ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Supervises, Performs and coordinates activities of skilled trades workers engaged in maintaining and repairing equipment, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, structures, utility systems, buildings, and grounds. Evaluates problematic systems or facilities and determines the installation or repair services that need to be performed. Develops and organizes work schedules and assigns work activities to subordinates. Evaluates each worker's performance to ensure quality operations; and inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Investigates accidents and prepares appropriate reports. Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment. Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during operation and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities. Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Perform simple machinist skills. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties. Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. Assist and train production employees in proper operation and maintenance of machinery Limited travel may be required Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change. Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. May supervise security to protect employees and property. May direct workers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, raking and disposing of leaves and refuse, and snow removal. May supervise custodial services. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: A 4-year BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years of Supervision with Production position Bilingual; read, write and speak fluent Spanish (highly desirable) Strong self-starter. Must be investigative by nature and willing to challenge the status quo. Extremely detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Journeyman level training or equivalent in training & experience, required 3-5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance (warehouse equipment, and grounds), required HVAC, plumbing and electrical certification, preferred Provide leadership to full time and temporary staffing.
