A Maintenance Supervisor oversees a staff of skilled as well as semi-skilled workers in maintenance, janitorial, and custodial tasks; performs various maintenance tasks and other related duties as required. Essentially, a Maintenance Supervisor supervises and performs repair, installation, and overall maintenance of projects on an assigned property.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • High School or GED.
  • Two years’ experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures. Formal training in related fields will substitute on a year for year basis.
Responsibilities
  • Makes regular inspections of assigned buildings and facilities to insure it is kept according to requirements.
  • Diagnoses existing problems and initiates needed action.
  • Plans and schedules necessary maintenance, establishing work and activity priorities.
  • Prepares, plans, sketches and carries out projects.
  • Maintains an inventory of equipment and supplied. Issues and orders equipment and supplies and supervises necessary maintenance.
  • Performs various maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Supervises skilled or semi-skilled employees in maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, cement work, masonry, and other general upkeep which involves furnishings, structures, floor covering, equipment, heating, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, and related systems.
  • Schedules relief, emergency, and vacation coverage.
  • Follows safety regulations and standards, and all policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
