Description
Maintenance Supervisor Scope: Responsible for managing the maintenance of trucks and trailers. Key Responsibilities: 1- Implement and oversee the trucks and flatbed maintenance plan. 2. Ensure timely servicing, repairs, and preventive maintenance. 3. Coordinate repairs and inspections with internal teams and third-party service providers. 4. Monitor engine performance and tire conditions to improve vehicle efficiency. 5.Ensure maintenance support is available 24/7 to handle any urgent needs. 6.Manage relationships with external service providers to ensure timely and high-quality servicing. 7.Control the maintenance budget. 1. Technical Expertise In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, etc. for truck and trailers. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, for trucks and trailers. Skilled in diagnosing and repairing equipment. 2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Experience implementing and managing preventive maintenance (PM) schedules Familiarity with condition-based and predictive maintenance techniques Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation 3. Leadership & Team Management Supervising and coordinating a team of technicians or maintenance workers Delegating tasks and ensuring proper execution Providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations 4. Planning & Organizational Skills Prioritizing maintenance requests and scheduling repairs or inspections Managing multiple tasks efficiently with minimal downtime Coordinating with other departments (e.g., operation, safety, procurement, and administration) 5. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance Strong understanding of workplace safety standards Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations Conducting safety inspections and promoting a culture of safety 6. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making Quick and effective decision-making in breakdown or emergency situations Analytical thinking to identify root causes and long-term solutions Ability to work under pressure and adapt to unexpected challenges 7. Communication Skills Clear verbal and written communication with team members, vendors, and upper management Ability to create and present maintenance reports and updates Interpersonal skills to manage conflict and maintain morale 8. Computer & System Proficiency Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. Basic IT skills for logging data, generating reports, and tracking KPIs Use of digital tools for inventory control, scheduling, and equipment monitoring 9. Budgeting and Cost Control Monitoring maintenance budgets and controlling costs. Procuring tools, parts, and equipment efficiently Working with procurement or vendors for cost-effective maintenance solutions Handle the petty cash for the fleet. 10. Continuous Improvement Orientation Identifying opportunities to improve maintenance practices or system reliability Encouraging innovation and efficiency among team members Educational Background Diploma or degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Required Qualifications 5-8 years of hands-on experience in: Maintenance and repair of diesel engines, commercial trucks, and fleet vehicles Supervisory or lead technician roles in a fleet maintenance or logistics environment Experience with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and compliance inspections Regulatory Knowledge Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations. Preventive Maintenance Scheduling and legal maintenance documentation requirements. Diesel engine diagnosis and repair Trailer systems: brakes, suspensions, electrical, refrigeration. Tire wear analysis, alignment, welding, and fabrication. Roadside breakdown procedures and protocols.
