OVERVIEW

Provide leadership to the maintenance trades, assess equipment repairs and assign manpower according to production priorities to maximize equipment availability on a daily basis

SKILLS

  • Qualified trades person with a minimum of five years’ experience in heavy manufacturing and facilities maintenance, including a minimum of three years’ experience in direct maintenance trades supervision
  • Strong team player
  • Good command of the English language both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Computer literacy including MS Office applications

Responsibilities
  • Assign and allocate the maintenance trades tasks to the maintenance crews on a daily basis to maximize equipment availability to match production priorities
  • Distribute workforce to the assigned tasks that best utilizes and applies the skills and knowledge of the resources available
  • Maintain close daily relationship to the area production supervisors
  • Monitor the daily progress of the maintenance trades to assigned tasks
  • Work hands on with the maintenance team as needed for breakdowns, troubleshooting, and assessments
  • Recognize and recommend employee training needs to the Plant Manager including skills upgrading, apprenticeship development etc. to promote internal growth and develop core manufacturing equipment maintenance knowledge
  • Report and recommend employee disciplinary actions to the Plant Manager
  • Review submitted maintenance request forms (MRF’s), assign workforce accordingly, check for completeness and submit to Maintenance Coordinator
  • Work with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure the safety of all workers is ensured with production and maintenance equipment that is maintained in safe operating condition
  • Advise the Maintenance Coordinator of modifications to existing Preventative Maintenance programs (PM’s) and development of new programs
  • Communicate directly with equipment suppliers and vendors on equipment repair issues and parts specification to expedite emergency repairs
  • Assist on an as needed basis with guidance and support of other plants maintenance and repair issues
  • Provide direction to any sub-contractors performing maintenance work or project work on site as required
