POSITION SUMMARY:

Pearson College UWC is looking for an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team. This key role oversees the day-to-day operations and in-house maintenance projects that keep our campus safe and operational. The Maintenance Supervisor will coordinate and prioritize work orders and oversee a preventative maintenance program utilizing a maintenance management system.
This is a dynamic and physically active position that requires flexibility and attention to detail. You will report to the Director of Operations, and you will supervise a team that takes pride in their work, our mission and our beautiful campus.

SKILLS AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• At least five years of previous leadership experience as a supervisor with excellent interpersonal and delegation skills and a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Strong expertise in at least one of the following trades: HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, or electrical, with working knowledge of the others.
• Red Seal certification in a trade is considered an asset.
• Wastewater Treatment Plant certification (Environmental Operators Certification Program – EOCP), or willingness to obtain it within six (6) months of employment.
• Certification in First Aid, WHMIS, and possession of a Class IV license, or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
• Proven ability to identify maintenance issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Demonstrated competence in planning and executing diverse maintenance schedules and meeting deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.
• Good manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform a range of maintenance tasks.
• Preference may be given to candidates interested in living on campus.

• Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians by providing guidance, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and offering regular feedback.
• Plan, develop, and implement preventative and scheduled maintenance programs for College facilities, equipment and infrastructure, utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS - Brightly software).
• Prioritize and manage work orders to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
• Oversee maintenance-specific projects to ensure timely and successful completion.
• Evaluate worksites to assess maintenance needs and determine appropriate corrective or preventative actions.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address identified hazards or concerns.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and organizational policies; develop, implement, and promote safety programs and best practices.
• Organize and lead maintenance-related training sessions for team members and, when appropriate, for community members.
• Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other stakeholders regarding maintenance priorities, updates, and concerns.
• Escalate complex or unresolved issues to management and provide informed recommendations.
• Respond to emergency situations or after-hours repair calls in a timely and responsible manner.
• Contribute to the development, review, and refinement of maintenance policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Manage and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies to ensure availability and readiness.
• Participate in and support the Director with budget planning and priorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall operations of the College.
