About the role
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll ensure the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance activities across your geographical area of the M25 network.
Your team will be responsible for maintaining linear assets including pavement, VRS, barriers and fences, signs and lines.
Managing a team of operatives and overseeing the work of subcontractors, you’ll help maintain the safety and compliance of all works activities. Your role will involve planning routine and cyclical works, scouting defects to
assess requirements, carrying out daily briefings and debriefings, and ensuring sufficient resources are in place to deliver works safely and on time.
You’ll also play an active role in driving continuous improvement, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring accurate and timely updates to the Maintenance Management System.
Your effective leadership will support the long-term success of the M25 network, ensuring it remains safe, resilient and in top condition.
What you’ll be doing

Maintenance Supervision:

  • Ensure efficient supervision of all work activities, including that of subcontractors.
  • Ensure all required information is available prior to works

commencing, including raising permits where necessary.

  • Scout defects to determine exact requirements for rectification
  • Plan routine/cyclical works through pre-scouting areas before closures
  • Update the Maintenance Management System to capture all relevant data of works activities.
  • Ensure sufficient resources are in place to deliver all works activities safely and on time.
  • Prepare and deliver daily work briefings to operatives and subcontractors, outlining methodology, hazards, risks, and control measures.
  • Deliver detailed debriefs at the end of each shift to identify issues and incorporate lessons learned into future activities.
  • Support the use of data devices amongst the team to ensure accurate input for reporting and record-keeping.
  • Support routine vehicle checks, maintain accurate driving records, and manage vehicle/plant defect reporting and rectification in line with CPS procedures.
  • Raise SCI’s as required
  • Participate in the development of the Annual Maintenance plan to ensure it is accurate and achievable.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Drive Zero Harm objectives by raising risk awareness, mitigating hazards, and fostering a proactive safety culture across the maintenance team and subcontractors.
  • Lead by example to ensure all activities meet safety standards and comply with systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Raise awareness of issues which may affect the safe operation of the network, reporting these accordingly.

Leadership:

  • Manage day-to-day people management tasks, including performance monitoring, absence management, overtime, and annual leave requests.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through ongoing feedback, training, and support.
  • Manage rotas to ensure sufficient staffing to carry out tasks.
  • Manage the performance of the team, including carrying out Performance Development Reviews (PDRs), and implementing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) where required.
  • Ensure regular internal and external communication with the team and deliver toolbox talks on a regular basis.

  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, empowering teams to explore new ideas and solutions to enhance performance.

  • Support the achievement of sustainability objectives, ensuring maintenance activities align with environmental best practices and Connect Plus Services’ long-term goals.
