EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Open to candidates with 1–3 years of experience across all departments.
  • Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • Trained in a skilled trades area or equivalent technical training.
  • Leadership skills: knowledge of safety regulations, conflict resolution, motivating team members, and providing training opportunities.
  • Technical knowledge: troubleshooting, schematics, manuals, automation (robots, PLC logic).
  • Problem-solving skills: prioritizing resources, root cause analysis (5 Whys).
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Background in skilled trades, college, or university education.
  • Standard computer skills required.
  • Experience supervising a unionized skilled trade workforce in an automotive manufacturing plant is an advantage.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Leader for our Assembly/OEM facility’s General Assembly Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe work practices and upholding organizational purpose and values. This role will involve developing and monitoring business objectives related to safety, people, quality, responsiveness, cost, and environmental considerations.
The Maintenance Leader will collaborate with union representatives and plant floor managers from all departments to motivate, train, and manage employee productivity, while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Supervisory responsibility includes a team of hourly employees engaged in plant production operations, such as Electricians and Industrial Maintenance Mechanics.
Work requires coordinating multiple operations, exercising independent judgment, and making decisions within established practices and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise trades personnel and assist them in achieving business objectives
  • Administer labor relations as required
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety policies and regulations
  • Manage manpower to maintain throughput and meet cost objectives
  • Coordinate maintenance, tooling, and engineering schedules within area of responsibility
  • Support ongoing throughput initiatives through Maximo PM completion and process improvements
  • Apply Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles to maintenance operations
  • Lead activities during equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities during scheduled downtimes
