Description

Tofino Resort + Marina is the ultimate basecamp for all things adventure. Located in the heart of Tofino on the waterfront, we offer guests everything from world-renowned fishing and wildlife tours, to our waterfront fitness facility, and comfortable hotel accommodations. We’re looking for a hands-on, proactive Maintenance Supervisor to help keep our resort operating at its best—safely, efficiently, and with attention to detail.
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead a team of technicians to ensure our resort grounds, guest-facing areas, and equipment remain safe, functional, and visually appealing. You’ll bring expertise in general maintenance, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to teamwork, safety, and guest satisfaction.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Perform and oversee general maintenance duties including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and minor repairs.
  • Supervise and coach a team of maintenance technicians, delegating tasks effectively.
  • Act as the department lead in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Collaborate with all departments to identify and resolve maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ensure the department maintains a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness.
  • Enforce and adhere to all safety protocols, including WCB and WHMIS standards.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair recreational equipment in the Adventure Centre and Tuff Fit Gym.
  • Participate in the development of a resort-wide risk registry and preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Coordinate with and oversee external contractors for specialized repairs or servicing.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the resort’s exterior and infrastructure to uphold appearance and safety.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, crouching, and working in varied weather conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience; resort or hotel experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of infrastructure systems (hydro, water, sewer) is a strong asset.
  • Certification in a maintenance-related field preferred.
  • Class 5 driver’s license required.
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Flexible schedule—available evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physically fit and able to work in indoor/outdoor environments year-round.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint or other digital maintenance tracking systems is an asset.
