Maintenance Support Technician | 8024 | Fixed Term Contract until 31 st March 2028 | 37 hours per week | £30,559 to £32,654 per annum (Scale G) | County Hall, Norwich
The Highway Services team of the Highway Group is responsible for the inspection of the highway and works ordering of routine highway maintenance, small to medium construction projects and winter maintenance across the county and are the first response to requests for service and public liaison.
The role is to assist the Highways Services Support Engineers (HSSE) and Strategic Contracts Manager (SCM) in relation to identified projects and initiatives and assist them in reviewing and monitor procedures and processes across the Highway Services team (HST) and the wider Highways section.
You will assist HSSE in production of the annual winter service plan, including, assessing changes to the gritted network taking into consideration current route time, salt capacity and new route time to make recommendations on whether or not changes can be accommodated.
You will support the HSSE in the administration of winter service farmer’s snow ploughs and agreements, liaising with Norse Fleet to ensure fit for purpose and availability.
You will support HSSE with new grit bin applications and administration.
You will be responsible for data collection from several sources, Finance and project support for HST.
You will support the Transport Manager and Strategic Contract Manager with regard to CES fleet management including:
You will support the HSSE in providing management information & dealing with operational issues, as required to achieve effective and efficient service delivery along with reviewing Electronic file management for HST.
You will carry out project work and assist the development of initiatives to support the highways team as required.
There will be general invoicing work for SCM including checking applications and arranging Purchase orders.
You’ll assist in developing, training, implementing and monitoring best practice within the highways team including project assistance in relation to Learning & Development.
In order to focus on local delivery, the county is divided into 4 areas with teams based at area offices; each is headed by an Area Manager.
