Company Description We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Team Member - Handyperson to join our hotel maintenance team. This position plays a key role in maintaining the hotel building, guest rooms, public areas, and surrounding facilities to a high standard, ensuring they remain fully operational, clean, safe, and comfortable for guests and staff. Job Description The Handyperson is responsible for carrying out general building maintenance and repair work across the hotel property. The role involves a broad range of manual, practical maintenance tasks to ensure buildings, fixtures, fittings, and facilities are maintained in a safe, functional, and serviceable condition. The position requires the ability to work independently and respond to day-to-day maintenance requirements. Responsibilities Inspect and report issues or damage in guest rooms and common areas; complete job sheets and updates. Carry out general repairs and maintenance to buildings, fixtures, fittings, and equipment Undertake painting, patching, and gib stopping as required Complete basic plumbing tasks such as replacing taps, clearing minor blockages, fixing leaks, and replacing fittings. Prioritize maintenance tasks and determine when to escalate or engage external contractors if necessary. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and supplies used. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and liaise with the Chief Engineer or Manager on Duty as needed. Ensure compliance with fire, health & safety, and environmental procedures in all work activities. Participate in continuous improvement by suggesting system and procedure enhancements. Qualifications Experience as a handyperson, maintenance worker, facilities technician, or similar role will be advantageous Competency across multiple practical skill areas including carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, and general repairs Demonstrated experience in general building maintenance Ability to work independently, especially during weekend or rostered shifts. Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills. Basic computer literacy to complete job reports and incident logging. Additional Information Why work for Novotel, Queenstown?
