Description Position Summary Under limited supervision, the Maintenance Technician Assistant performs a variety of machine and building maintenance duties. This position supports maintenance technicians in the repair and upkeep of all production equipment within the facility, including manual and CNC machines, mills, lathes, and grinding equipment used in the company’s production areas. Typical Duties Assists maintenance technicians with general building and equipment maintenance, including minor electrical work. Cleans, paints, and helps repair production machinery such as lathes, mills, and grinders. Services coolant systems by cleaning, recycling, and refilling coolant as needed. Removes metal chips and waste materials, transporting them to recycling bins. Handles and disposes of waste fluids in accordance with safety procedures. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Two or more years of work experience in building maintenance. Knowledge of Cal/OSHA and OSHA safety regulations (preferred). Basic computer literacy for entering and retrieving information using standard business software. Strong customer service skills to respond to coworker or supervisor inquiries and escalate complex matters appropriately. Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, customers, and others. Clear communication skills to convey instructions and follow written and verbal directions. Mathematical ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations (preferred). Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities. Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and common-sense skills. Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Technical or other relevant training. Certificates or Licenses Required The following may be required depending on local, state, or contract requirements: Valid Driver’s License Physical Requirements Employees must be able to perform the following physical activities for extended periods, with or without assistance: Maneuvering in and around equipment. Bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and crawling. Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds. Climbing ladders and step stools as needed. Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with forklifts, material handling, and production equipment, as well as in an office setting. The role may involve exposure to noise from machinery and, depending on weather conditions, to heat, cold, wind, or rain.
