About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our ASC Shipbuilding Business Unit based at Osborne, South Australia.
This role will see you responsible for the maintenance of the shipyard facilities to satisfy the legislative and project requirements. The role is principally one of technical support which includes the Calibration of Tools and equipment used within the Shipyard. It involves the exercise of support and repair judgement within broad and often undefined parameters in the overall interests of the project and in full cognisance of the likely effect on the support activities as a whole.
The Maintenance Technician will also be required to become familiar with the Shipbuilding Specialist Equipment supplied in Building 20, 02 & 18 and to act as the BAESMA representative for support and Calibration of the equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of this role it is expected that the Maintenance Technician will be the technical subject matter expert for the calibration of small tools, rigging equipment, gauges for Production and Quality and where necessary liaise with the OEM for timely resolution of issues.
  • The use of MEX and Hardcat software to set calibration and service requirements for small tools and measuring and lifting equipment
  • Ability to read and understand Tooling manuals
  • Understand legislative and compliance standards for critical equipment
  • Organise the quarantining of equipment when tools and equipment are out of calibration dates as specified in ISO 10012 & ISO 9001
  • Development of Calibration schedule
  • Ensure maintenance is being performed in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations and records are kept in the CMMS
  • Coordinating with Calibration contractors including the freighting of equipment to the required contractor, including packing and unpacking of Tools ready for calibration
  • Provide Input into SOP development and Risk Assessments for the Equipment
  • Ensure all Specified Equipment are calibrated at all times in the Tool store ready for production use

About YOU

  • Cert IV Trade based qualifications in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical or Equivalent
  • Appropriate licencing for the equipment used within the shipyard
  • Demonstrated experience in shipyard maintenance
  • Experience in a defence or naval or ship building environments (desirable).
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Substantial experience in managing large and diverse work teams in a fast paced environment.
  • Self-motivation with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • A high attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant Defence Clearances
