Maintenance Technician – Southbank, VIC Location: Southbank, Melbourne, VIC Company: BGIS, supporting a high-profile landmark venue along the Yarra River Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent, On-site Shift Pattern: Monthly schedule consists of 16 days with 10-hour shifts. Set Roster spanning four days a week, with working hours ranging from 7am to 11 pm. Purpose of the Role BGIS is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the smooth day-to-day operation of a prominent Southbank event and entertainment precinct. Reporting to the Facilities leadership team, you will work closely with BGIS colleagues and on-site stakeholders to deliver responsive, high-quality maintenance services that support a 24/7 venue environment. This role balances hands-on maintenance with strong communication, supporting a welcoming, safe, and well-presented venue for staff, visitors, and clients alike. About You You enjoy practical, varied work and take pride in keeping spaces safe, functional, and presentable. You’re comfortable working independently or alongside others, communicate clearly with different stakeholders, and value being part of a supportive, growing team. You may come from a hotel, hospital, office, or commercial building background and enjoy structured rosters that allow you to plan ahead. Key Responsibilities Complete planned and reactive general maintenance across the site Undertake handyperson works including patch & paint, minor carpentry, doors, locks, skirting, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, and trims, changing lamps Carry out plant inspections, and routine site checks Respond to maintenance requests and log works accurately in digital systems Support subcontractors on-site and assist with minor supervision as required Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance, and presentation standards Work collaboratively with BGIS team members to meet operational requirements across rotating shifts Education, Experience & Skills Essential: Experience in commercial maintenance, handyperson, or trades assistant roles Strong general building and maintenance knowledge Comfortable using mobile devices and systems for work orders and reporting Clear communication skills and a client-focused approach Ability to work across rotating rosters, including evenings and weekends Valid Australian Driver’s Licence Desirable: Trade background or relevant building qualification White Card Experience in hotels, hospitals, office buildings, or similar commercial settings Painting, carpentry, or general repairs experience Working Pattern & Roster This role operates on a set rotating roster, with advance notice provided to support work–life planning. Shifts rotate across: 7:00am – 5:00pm 9:00am – 7:00pm 1:00pm – 11:00pm Optional overtime is available when covering team leave and can be taken as paid overtime or time in lieu. Why Join BGIS?
