Buckner Retirement Services Community: Buckner Villas Location: Austin, TX - Onsite Address: 11110 Tom Adams Dr, Austin, TX 78753 Job Schedule: Full-Time We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our community committed to delivering outstanding service. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play an important role in all phases service that meets or exceeds Buckner quality, service, and hospitality standards. What you'll do: Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from supervisor in accordance with established maintenance policies and procedures; perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed. Complete assigned work orders promptly and accurately. Coordinate work with contractors to insure efficient and timely completion. Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility, grounds, and equipment in a safe and serviceable manner including taking preventive measures; perform routine maintenance and repair including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc. as directed. Maintain roadways, parking areas, driveways, etc. by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc. as directed. Clean windows and screens as directed. Replace burned out light bulbs including all exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc. Perform cleaning duties in very high places using appropriate equipment and following all safety policies and procedures. Service heating and cooling units/systems as specified by the manufacturer and in compliance with established policies and procedures. Maintain general plan and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment. What you’ll bring: Requires proficient ability to read, write, and follow instructions. High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required; some vocational school courses such as general mechanical, safety requirements, and making minor repairs preferred. Minimum 1 year prior related experience preferred. Requires working knowledge in the use and repair of general maintenance supplies. Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English; ability to read, write and understand business documents which are written in English. Requires ability to effectively communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Requires ability to make self clearly understood by others. Requires ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions. Requires ability to move maintenance equipment as needed, using up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people. Work deals mostly with objects, equipment and/or machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance. Requires ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, handle, stand, and walk over 75% of shift. Requires ability to safely utilize maintenance equipment and recognize differences in sound generated by equipment or machinery which may indicate operation problems or safety concerns. Requires ability to work under close supervision performing routine, standardized tasks.
