KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Practical knowledge and experience with processing and packaging equipment in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Capable of effectively troubleshooting equipment, instrumentation, and programming failures.
  • Knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of specialized instruments for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Develop a positive work environment through team building and collaboration
  • Must be flexible with work hours and be able to work overtime and weekends when needed.
  • Be on an on-call rotation.

WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Associate’s Degree or accredited apprenticeship (e.g. 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician, 442A Industrial Electrician, 447A Instrumentation and Control Technician, or 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright).
  • 3-5 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment or components. The incumbent applies knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to the site.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all required work safe practices, which includes but not limited to lock-out tag-out, PPE, chemical safety, fall protection, etc.
  • Compliance to Quality, Food Safety, and GMP procedures and standards.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair packaging, utility, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Adjust equipment to ensure the proper performance and safe operating conditions.
  • Collaborate with employees on procedures for working safely with electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Document breakdowns and preventive maintenance on the CMMS software.
  • Install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Install, start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness of Maintenance Shop and work areas.
  • Support and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Active participation in meetings and activities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
