REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience, including equipment setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting—preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with food industry equipment and processes, including VFFS, flow wrappers, and metal detectors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical diploma in mechanics or engineering.
  • Electrical and/or Gas certification (asset).
  • Multi-craft skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance tools, including CMMS systems (e.g., MaintainX), vibration analysis, and thermography.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., Millwright Red Seal, Welding).

TECHNICAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Proficient in mechanical and electrical components for bakeshop and packaging equipment.
  • Skilled in operating shop tools (milling machines, lathes, grinders, drills, welding equipment).
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure equipment efficiency and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills, including inventory control and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English for accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant operations. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment to minimize downtime and maximize production performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and set up equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform major and minor equipment adjustments within set timeframes.
  • Conduct safe, effective maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Keep all machinery clean and fully operational in compliance with GMP guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Accurately complete and submit maintenance reports via MaintainX for effective tracking and follow-up.
  • Carry out both corrective and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Research, test, and implement improvements to systems and equipment.
  • Act as a first responder in emergencies, verifying and resolving issues.
  • Contribute to performance management processes to align with company objectives.
