Description POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Technician supports the mission and daily operations of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW) by performing preventive and general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of campus facilities, systems, and equipment. This position plays an essential role in ensuring that the Seminary’s buildings and grounds remain safe, functional, and welcoming. The Maintenance Technician may provide direction to others as assigned and works collaboratively with colleagues and departments across campus to support an efficient, well-maintained environment for study, worship, and work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Seminary buildings, equipment, and systems. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural elements. Conduct general maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, repairing fixtures, and performing minor carpentry or painting. Coordinate and maintain the Seminary’s key and lock systems. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations as assigned (on-call rotation required). Initiate, document, and complete work orders in a timely and organized manner. Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas. Collaborate with maintenance staff, contractors, and other professionals during repairs, projects, and renovations. Support other departments as needed and assist with event setups or facility needs. Provide direction or oversight to assigned personnel when designated by supervisor. Last Revised: 2025.10.10 Requirements QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED required. Proven maintenance experience with demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools, read technical manuals and blueprints, and perform general facility repairs. Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; maintains positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, and guests. Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and with professionalism under minimal supervision. Understanding of and respect for the doctrine, mission, and values of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS General understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems. Familiarity with door locks and closers, concrete and masonry work, welding, and basic automotive repair is preferred. Interest in HVAC automation programming or facility systems management is a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to safely climb ladders and access confined spaces as required. Ability to move about campus and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
